He has been playing a little bit more of a wide range recently, but not much
At the last Lost he played stuff I'd never imagined him play, like Kings Of
Tomorrow and Laurent Garnier. His sets on Electronic Directory are extremely
eclectic (The Clash, Kyoto Jazz Massive), so we know he's capable of playing
more varied sets, but he seems happy trotting out the same old
Axis/Purposemaker records over and over again for the (for the most part)
unimaginative London techno crowd (well, specifically the Lost crowd).
He must be aware that there are a lot of broad-minded techno fans who will
welcome him branching out but I think maybe Lost jocks are intimidated into
playing safe sets. It happened with FK a couple of Losts ago. We were all
expecting a Body and Soul-type set embracing everything from Afrobeat to
Basic Channel but we got a pretty bog-standard FX heavy techno set. We
expect good DJs to challenge our expectations and constantly surprise us,
but that's not been happening with the like of Mills and Hawtin recently.
Lost should start booking some fresher DJs like Dave Tarrida and Surgeon,
even if it's just in a support slot 'cos the old school are beginning to
fail us.

I just wish mills would buy new records.

Im sick of hearing the same tracks over and over and over.

my opinion only. no offense meant to anyone, even Jeff.
