I absolutely *hate* sennheisers, I got a set of beyer dynamic phones about 4years ago - they sound *really* clear at any volume, theyre comfortable, everything is replaceable and at 100GBP they seemed expensive at the time but given how long they've lasted I reckon its very reasonable. My only slight quibble would be that the bass response is not as much as other phones though personally I find it quite nice, particularly when producing, since I find lots off bass can reduce the general clarity of the sound.
Oh yeah and the silver sony numbers marc has got are nice as well comfy, well built, nice sound and marc hasn't broken them yet which is quite an endorsement! :-----Original Message----- :From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:Michael.Elliot- :[EMAIL PROTECTED] :Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 2:52 PM :To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] :Cc: 313@hyperreal.org :Subject: Re: (313) OT: headphones : : :Sennheiser : :I don't use a closed cup earphone though because of the risk of tinnitus :Sennheiser makes both open and closed models though :Their sound is much more accurate (and clear/defined) than any other :headphone I've ever used and I find that generally they are loud enough for :most environments - and I have found that the more accurate the sound is, :the less volume I actually need because things aren't muddy and I don't :need to turn up the cue (and if I'm following another DJ I find myself :often turning the cue volume down). :Sennheiser headphones can get expensive but usually the more you pay for :headphones the better the quality - the most important thing is not to :skimp on the quality of the sound because it's not just your mix that you :should be concerned about but also your hearing and the health of your :ears.
