Hi,

saturday i saw these two, among many other artists, play live and spin at
the Distorsonie electronic music festival in Bologna.
Dj Stingray was better than expected after having read some lukewarm posts
here regarding his sets. He plaued with a swat team type mask on while
flawlessly mixing good ol' detroit techno bass. he also put some super fast
loop techno (1 track onyl i think, at that point i left to hear king britt
spin for 15 minutes before returning to the hangar to catch derrick). He
laso put on master builder by robert hood towards the end of his set - a
highlight of the whole event.
Derrick May - it was the first time ive seen him play. what can i say, he
was very very good. he played a lot of percussive hard housey grooves (dare
i say tech-house) and various 313 tracks, even a robert hood track.
he also played this killer version of groove la chord by aril brikha, in
which the stabs never really take off, but keep starting over in a cut-up
fashion, almost as if he was spinning doubles.
He also confirmed my opinion that Blackwater in these last 2 years is the
most played track at 6 in the morning, by playing a beautiful version full
of 313 strings floating in the background. All in all a wicked set, almost
relentless, with derrick constantly jacking the eqs for maximum floor
appeal.
