oh man that's too good, esp. like the "violin" mime (!) I caught him stateside a few years ago at a big (now closed) club... if i recall correctly he was chomping on a cigar during his set and hammered it out and pulled no punches for a "club set"... (which over here tend to be a little less minimal/hard than underground parties). But no, Dave brought it was was pure hard as nails underground techno... this was in the early days of the Surgeon/Downwards catalog. Too hard for me personally but he would layer in Dance Mania and DJ Funk records throughout, I think he figured "when in chicago..." ha ha He also dropped Man Made - Space Wreck which on a massive system was PERFECT... a moment i still haven't forgotten.
Also loved how on his Radio 1 show he's get other people giving him props, like "whazzup whazzup DJ Pierre in da houuuuuuse, checking out Dave Clarke!" and there were shouts from Leo Anabaldi, etc. He was never short on giving himself props and hey, it's his own style and that's what makes him Dave Clarke. ;)
