The 12" just don't cut it.. The sample itself is only a couple of
minutes long but the sheer proposterousness (?) of that noise being in
the middle of an out and out disco track is what makes it so cool..
I've got the kikrokos LP, but not the 12". I think it pre-dates
Derrick May's productions, as Derrick would have been about 14 or 15
years when it came out? :) But it does have a crazy electronic
bassline sound that I could see why you think it's sampled. The LP
is called Jungle DJ and Dirty Kate.. (freaky hand drawn cover art
too... classic disco perv stuff)
I agree with Placid, that crazy break with the electric sounds is
genius, that's the part Ron Hardy played, and you can see why, the rest
is basically rubbish... :)
