Okay, now I remember why I mostly hate music with lyrics, and probably don't know the lyrics to any songs all the way through (well maybe Pixies' Wave of Mutilation but that is about it). I usually figure I'm better off not knowing what all the lyrics are to most songs.
I don't know the song below, but when read, those lyrics just look really bad to me. Not a flame just a personal opinion. I guess I love instrumental music because it frees me to have different kinds of thoughts, unusual, impersonal, cosmic thoughts - I can dream about being a subatomic particle or a cat or a moonbeam... Whereas the majority of lyrics seem to fall into really cliched ideas about humans and stereotypical socialized interactions. I feel more liberated having my own thoughts than hearing someone's cheap love song. Techno and 313 songs actually do a bit better on this front though. And I actually have no problem with silly party lyrics, lyrics about BOOTY, or commands to "Jack Your Body!" Just don't like the typical subjects of emotional type songs unless they are very unusual and written in a poetic or off-center way, and that includes vocal house. ~David ---------- Original Message ------------- Subject: Re: (313) heart wrenching house Date: Thu, 5 Aug 2004 23:46:46 +0100 From: "Marc Langsman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Tom Churchill" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, "313" <313@hyperreal.org> Ok so it isnt partciularly underground but suprisingly poignant lyrics I reckon : basement jaxx 'good luck' ...
