This has f&ck-all to do with Detroit (erm ... I took cEvin Key to go
see and meet Richie Hawtin - Canadian muso summit alert! - at Johnny
Depp's Viper Room club once ... does that count?), but given that
Gerald and Tristan mentioned 'em, I just wanted to put in a BSP for
my Skinny Puppy homeboys. They just went out on the road yesterday
and are hitting a lot of spots back East and in Canada (they're
at the State Theater in Detroit on Nov. 12th, and in Toronto 2 days
before at Kool Haus) over the next month and a half. Even if (like me)
Industrial is no longer your thang, if you've ever been a fan you'll
find something to like in their current roadshow. (One thing about
Puppy live is that they've always been an incredibly well-oiled
machine on stage, and this tour is no different in that regard.)
Tour dates at http://www.Litany.NET/ or http://SPTravel.INFO/ ...

P.S. Re: WOMB/Liquid Room/Tokyo et al. - I went to both on my last
trip to Japan. Amazing (albeit expensive) clubs, both of 'em.

Tokyo can be an incredibly alienating place, especially alone.
One of the fascinating things you discover is how much we all
depend on pattern-matching - for example, the subway maps were
all in Japanese, so I had to pattern-match the characters to find
my station stop. Luckily two of my best friends live there - one
in and one outside (in Chiba-ken) the city, so most of the time I'm
pretty set (the one that lives in the city speaks fluent Japanese).
You should've said you were going there Cyclone, I could've hooked
you up! (I wonder whatever happened to Nancy Mitchell - she used
to be on 313, and she was over there doing Artist Management and
Promotion, for WOMB et al. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?)

Looks like I'll have to find a copy of that one especially with a
description from Tristan as "some of the synths remind me a bit of
Skinny Puppy" sounding. I'll be playing a Halloween event, complete with
a haunted house setup in one room and dj's in the other - I need more
scary records! :)
