Since I asked about him, I thought I might as well review him. Let me say this first, as much as I want to be old and jaded about the techno/techaus scene in SF bay area, I have to admit that it is coming back on. It will probably never be as great as it was 7-10 years ago with weeklies bringing out 313ers gallore and people doing mad underground warehouse jams but events are drawing good crowds of people that are dancing. The coming back of the techier side of bay area dance culture is really great, I have only longed for the demf once this fall. So Mr. samuals, he did have all the girls dancing and most of the club, eventhough the gallery space has a no dancing permit or lack of a dancing permit. It is like footloose all over again, anyway such are the times. It is still great to dance, he played some classics and some kompakt come truam esque techausy stuff that was consistant if a little boring to me. He was a lazy dj though, letting tracks run out and then quick mixes out. I was kinda shocked, he tours europe and plays like this? Maybe his live sets are where he makes his name? On the plus side, Broker/Dealer continues to get better and better, they played better with dance floor than the last time that I saw them.
Mixer questions, I am finally upgrading to a better mixer and I have been drooling over the DENON DNX1500, has anyone played on one? Any comments? Or just general comments about the new denon mixer line? For the UK djs, I was also looking at the KAM mixers, are they as good a people claim or are they crap? thanks tom
