well hey, for what it's worth, i've pressed both small hole and big hole 7"s...
there is no competition -- small hole. i don't know why anyone would prefer something you need an accessory for. even if you have an adaptor, it makes them harder to slap on and play if you try to dj with them. if you have the little yellow adaptors that snap-in to the hole, those frequently fall out or dont fit as tight as you'd want. they're just annoying, an extra pain in the ass. i've also never seen a big-hole 7" with very good sound quality, but maybe just because they're not done a whole lot these days. btw speaking of 7"s - -arne weinberg's spectral disease is fantastic sounding! it has the thickness and sound of a good 12"...plus it's great music! the only reason i have any bad feelings about 7"s and 10"s is that they tend to get lost among 12"s -- i have to keep them in a seperate box, not filed with everything else. 7"s can sound a little thin sometimes, but that's what eq is for.
