What about another list for
rock/punk/funk/dub/wave early 80's crossover?? Maybe one for disco, both

A list fitting all of the above (minus jazz, unless it's weirdo Sun Ra space jazz, or avant No Wave jazz influences) would be the yahoo group EDP - Electro Disco Punks. Bits of valuable info exchanged on things in this wide net of genres, including great tracks, b-sides you forgot about (or never knew to begin with), rare remixes and alternate versions, etc. Traffic is pretty low, which i actually find to be a relief.

They don't know/care much about house or techno classics, and the majority seem to live in NYC -- but hey you can't have it all. ;) Most lists need a focus to be any good.. this is right on the edge of being too broad, yet with this era of music you kind of have to discuss it in context to have it make sense, when you consider the musical melting pot of these genres around that time where electro, disco and punk all met on a dark streetcorner to chug a bottle of cheap wine before trying to sneak into each others club nights.

It's pretty quiet till someone asks a question, then all the headz come out of the woodwork to one-up each other on the most correct answer... that part can get annoying, sure, but all in all, it's too informative for me to unsub or stop contributing myself. It's pretty irreverent which i also like.

EDP was started by the owner of the Miami Bass history list, incidentally.
