We have some parties, there's some ppl here that listen to Detroit Techno.
We have some producers of Detroit Techno-based music, but most of them,
produce for themselves, like me and some friends... we made it because we
like, live by good music here is too hard. Except if you play commercial
stuff with a tight t-shirt! :รพ

Most people here don't know electronic music by style... I don't know if it
happens outside here too but here ppl usually listen what is 'cool' to
listen at the moment, now is Psy, electronic music party 'should' have psy.
But also have underground parties with good music, with less people, less
structure but great music.

We're facing some difficulties about the promoters and clubs, many clubs
doesnt matter if you are a DJ that produce your music or have good musical
taste and mixing skills.
Another problem is about taxes, here we dont have vinyl to sell on shops,
you should import it... and it means that it get very expensive. You must
pay the price of vinyl plus 60% of its price+shipping of taxes. a vinyl come
here for almost 2x more expensive than in a US shop. The same thing for
electronics, music equipments.... There's a movement against those taxes
over vinyl and music, but nothing happen in years. There's a lot of other
difficulties that make our scene hard to grow...

Its hard to dont generalize things... but I tried to be precise.

Subject: (313) Dance Music in Brazil?

Just to satisfy my curiosity, what is the Electronic Music/Dance Scene
like in Brazil? Do you get American DJs down much, and how are they
received? Is there much awareness of Detroit Techno as distinguished
from other northern hemisphere dance music?

My knowledge of Brazilian Music is basically

Villa-Lobos (Heitor, not Ricardo!)
Black Orpheus
60's Bossa Nova -- Jobim, the Gilbertos, etc
70's Jazz/Funk -- Airto, Banda Black Rio, Milton Nasciemento, Gilberto Gil
