ahhh...i remember when we had this debate before....good times....

i dunno...i've been listening to some three 6 mafia tho (from tennessee but
they are producing some of that houston hiphop stuff too)....some of that stuff
is technOOOo....135 bpm straight beats....or really cool 140+ bpm half-speed
beats...fast and slow....the percussion is fast but the kicks are spaced so
it's slow...dope dope dope...808 madnessss...lots of synth...the lyrics are
typical whatever but the production woooooo...

anyways. i really like that pacou carl craig mix. and i really really like that
aaron soul & terry brookes stuff. it just sounds fresh, no mindblowing new
style or anything, just sounds like todayyyy...a little bit of modern rnb or
something in it...

what am i talking about

Subject: (313) The Friday Debate. Nostalgia.

QUESTION TIME.

Q: Why is techno deemed nostalgic, when current 'hip' music trends are
incredibly nostalgic and draw from periods of music way before techno, in a
rather obvious and relatively unsubtle fashion?

DISCUSS.

also I should add that I dont think theres anything wrong with current
musical trends, I even *shock horror* like some of it from time to time,
its just it all sounds so nostalgic to me, everything on dfa for example.
