well, Simon Bizzle, Kev Walker and Greg Staples spring to mind ---

School:
Rick Veitch, John Totlebein, Steve Bissette, Andy Kubert (duh!).
Jack Kirby maybe greater inspiration for Alan Oldham than Kubert, however:
