Especially when the Ren Cen is hardly 5 star! If you're staying multiple nights (3 or longer) try asking for a deal. I did that and it worked (stayed 7 days).

Just a heads up, non-Detroit people:

The Athenaeum is charging $266 a night.

The Ponch is asking $299 a night for 3 of the 4 nights,
which just makes me laugh. It wasn't even worth the
$120 or so a night that I paid them a few years ago.

The Marriott in the Ren Cen is nearly $399 a night.

Be prepared to crash 4-to-a-room raver-stylee if you want to stay
at any of these close-by places and not drain your bank account.

The Shorecrest (and the Courtyard by Marriott, the closest
hotel to Hart Plaza) has long since sold out.
