Pricey but I've heard good things about the Athenaeum.
Yeah, the Atheneum is nicer than the Ponch or Ren Cen IMO. If it's cheaper
and I had that kind of money to throw at a hotel I'd be there without
questions.
Slightly further out is the St. Regis. http://hotelstregisdetroit.com.
haven't stayed there since the first DEMF so can't say how nice it is today,
but it was a decent place back then. Expedia has no availability for the
25-29 but maybe it's worth giving them a call?
