To begin with, Sydney has never exactly been inspirational turf for Detroit techno DJs - note the pathetic turn out at Kevin Saunderson/Kenny Larkin last year. Even its own techno DJs are underappreciated. I don't know why this is. The shows in Melb went down very well.
Also if you look at Derrick's schedule, you'll understand that he is tired. Pretty much he has been in a different city every day and that's after a 24 hour flight to Australia. He's stated in interviews here how he wants to balance out his life by doing more studio work and pulling back on DJing but he has litigation problems on the label front.
