Did anyone see Tad Mullinix at the hamtramck blowout this Friday? If so,
what exactly was the problem with his equipment? The set was faulty in so
many ways.

it just kind of started. People were mingling and sampling
the massedonian beer and then all of a sudden he brings us into the middle
of one of his loops. no intro. no build up. nothing. For a short while it
appeared as if he was trying to mix two digital audio loops but then when
he brought them both in and realised they couldn't beat match he quickly
killed the recent loop and tried to fool us with a delay effect. Soon he
gave up mixing tracks and focused primarily on efx and queuing samples.
And for awhile that was cool. but he used all his tricks in the beginning
so that there was nothing to anticipate. I remember grooving along to a
really hard industrial techno beat but after a few minutes nothing was
added or modified to keep it interesting. so he killed it. in the middle
of a techno loop and then a quick fade out. and silence. more silence. and
soon we are in the middle of another loop entirely different from the
last.

I'm just not covinced this is all due to technical difficulties. I really
dig Tad's Cd's but lately when I see him live I am dissapointed.
A Live PA set can be very cool and when I saw him at DEMF I was excited.

So maybe this list can queue me in on what's happening. I appreciate,

carlos
