Someone else just asked me ths question and here is my reply:

Macrobiotic is between vegan and raw foods. It's more of an approach to what you eat than an actual diet. Most macrobiotic restaurants have raw food and vegan food. Macrobiotic means not eating anything processed or with additives, everything is organic, etc.

I'm actually not completely sure what it means, myself. Everyone seems to have a different definition. It seems to involve both eating organic food, holistic medicine and a certain lifestyle.

I just know that I like the restaurants that call themselves macrobiotic.

Definitely not pie or mash or fish or chips.

Does anyone know any good macrobiotic places in Manhattan? I've been to
Caravan of Dreams in the East Village which was OK...
