The new Ian O'Brien album, A History of Things to Come (Peacefrog) gets
my current vote for gorgeous, spicey 'future jazz' stuff in this vein.
But he throws in versions of Jaco Pastorius' "Teentown," and Pat Methany's
"A Midsummer Western Night's Dream" to provide some nice historical
context. Also features Kiwi Nathan Haines (flute), and Domu (drum
programmer extraordinaire).

On a housier tip, don't miss Aqua Bassino's Beats n' Bobs, on F Comm,
recently out.
