hi, yeah, sure you can stop artsd from starting. this is one of the first things i do on each installation, i am really looking forward kde4.x becoming good, phonon, the successor of arts might be interesting. i have encountered several _really_strange_ errors with the sound system while arts was running, such as that amarok needed about 2 minutes after a new start to start playing soundfiles _with_sound_ (it started playing them silent), sometimes amarok stopped making sound but kept on playing the files ... this has been solved by turning of this thing called arts.
you can do the trick via kcontrol: sound & multimedia => sound system => remove the tick at "enable sound system" the downside is that you will not have system sounds, but i consider this an uside. ;-) all the best, tobias _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
