Hi Ralf :) Ralf Mardorf schrieb: > The sequencer I know, that might be interesting for me are Rosegarden, > MusE and Qtractor. > Rosegarden crashes when > - playing MIDI events without recording > - recording MIDI events > - after recording audio tracks personally, I'd dig deeper here. Because, as you describe it, the whole situation with making music on Linux would change for you *if* Rosegarden was just able to play/record MIDI and audio without crash. Now please excuse my insisting on this point. Probably you've already tried all of this and are really fed up by the issue..... Anyway, here it goes :-D Have you looked into the Rosegarden bug tracker? (there are two open and 27 closed bugs with "crash" in the subject line and none seems to be related to what you describe). Maybe the problem is actually in the JACK realm, because you state: > Also Fluid-DSSI, Qsynth, Qsampler and JACK will crash in this situations. Your problem looks pretty much reproducible -- a situation which makes developers happy :-P Chances are good you could be able to produce a stacktrace, which could just change the whole picture, because then it could be possible to see what's actually going on. > MusE is totally broken. strange, I hear this statement again and again since several years :-o > There are problems for MTC. Rosegarden can be master for a Yamaha RX21, > but not for the Atari ST. Ardour can be master for the Atari ST. Ardour > can't be slave for the Atari ST. ...and what was the answer or reaction of the Rosegarden community or developers? Weren't they interrested in such an issue? > Maybe socket AM2 and on-board graphics aren't used by those who have > stable MIDI applications, but I also know a Linux multimedia moderator > who says, that he has got no trouble with sync, when using JACK > transport, it should be 100% in sync in his studio. Hehe, I really like this one ;-) > I don't know anybody living near to me, who has got no > trouble with Linux audio, MIDI, I have to believe that there are people > far away, that can use MIDI sequencers. ...which just shows there *is* some serious trouble, which maybe doesn't get the attention by the developers it deserves?
