The IESG has approved the following document: - 'Fixing the C-Flag in Extended Address Registration Option (EARO)' (draft-ietf-6lo-updating-rfc-8928-05.txt) as Proposed Standard
This document is the product of the IPv6 over Networks of Resource-constrained Nodes Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Erik Kline and Éric Vyncke. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-6lo-updating-rfc-8928/ Technical Summary This document updates RFC 8928, “Address-Protected Neighbor Discovery for Low-Power and Lossy Networks” (AP-ND), by updating the bit position for the C-flag in the Extended Address Registration Option (EARO) and registering it with IANA. Working Group Summary There was no controversy. This document has followed a quicker process than usual, due to its nature of being a short document fixing a mistake in RFC 8928 with the position of one bit (the C-flag) in EARO, which in addition was not registered with IANA. The draft received comments during adoption and WGLC, including the shepherd's comments. The last version of the draft addresses all the comments. Document Quality At this moment, neither the shepherd nor the authors are aware of existing implementations or plans to implement the draft. Nevertheless, the draft is required to fix a mistake in RFC 8928, as described earlier. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Carles Gomez. The Responsible Area Director is Éric Vyncke. IANA Note The only purpose of this document (based on discussion with IANA) is to address 3 changes in "IANA Registry for the Address Registration Option Flags". RFC Editor Note Please process draft-ietf-6lo-updating-rfc-8928 and draft-ietf-6lo-prefix-registration together (they should actually be in a cluster anyway) and allocate two sequential RFC number if possible. The lower RFC number should be for draft-ietf-6lo-updating-rfc-8928 and the higher for draft-ietf-6lo-prefix-registration.
