i would imagine that cpu has nothing to do with it and encryption would add no overhead at all. i would image that seeks dominate your performance numbers. i don't think coraid could manage with such performance. this morning's dump is not outlandish but it is a bit bigger than normal — 1.65gb in 8k blocks. note that this isn't a super i/o rate because kenfs doesn't go full-tilt boogy on dumps and because the backup worm is across town. but still, it does manage to complete in under 12 minutes.
