theres a bug in plan9 fdisk causing partitions to get forcefully rounded to cylinder boundries. causing existing partitions to "move" even if they where never modified due to wrong disk geometry detection or just non-cylinder-aligned partitioning.
this was fixed in 9front long ago. -- cinap
