This is false.  Dual-booting works just fine with UEFI; tools like
efibootmgr make it trivial and I do it all the time.  It's much nicer
than having to work with grub.

Then perhaps it wasn't just UEFI but something else in the system. I recall trying to disable Secure Boot with no effect.

If I still had the laptop I would certainly try efibootmgr but as I said I sent it back.

At any rate Lenovo had an incentive to make it work (preventing a return/refund) and told me it couldn't be done.
