Jim, I accept your argument, but at the risk of boring the pants off everyone else on the group, all I will say is that yes, Linux can be hard work but as a basic operating medium it is fine and would suit many people who just email and browse.
The version I use is probably the most user friendly of all the distributions I have tried but the biggest difficulty is weaning oneself off Windows. Windows is very easy, has a vast database of commercial software that we really don't need and is also the way a lot of people make lots of money! Go on, throw me a virus! It wont be a problem because I wont be able to find it :)) Linux makes you think, the thinking has already been done for you by MS!! Rick PS Is it true that bearded men wont give up an argument?
