One thing I have never mentioned is that the errors always occur when I 
am doing something else. Sometimes I'm playing a game or checking email.

Firefox is still open on all the pages listed but the active window is 
Thunderbird or something else.

I "assume" that the script is a page checking for updates. Scans find no 
virus or malware.
