Hi Christopher - Hmm... Malwarebytes is supposed to be free. It was free last time I used it. Are you sure you didn't download the "pro" version by mistake. A lot of these apps kinda "hide" the free versions to trick you into getting the paid versions. Go here and try the free version: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ You'll have to uninstall the pro version first.
Depending on how much personal data you've got you might not need a 2nd hard drive to back up your stuff. A 4 or 8GB thumb drive might do it? You can even create a free Dropbox account and upload your data there. I think they give 2.5GB free. Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/home When I suggested a "Restore" I wasn't talking the built-in Windows Restore app. I meant that most pc makers give you an option to restore the pc to the way it was the day you bought it. Often this is done with just a couple clicks - no disks needed. Takes maybe 10 minutes. But of course you'll lose everything you've added since you opened the box. If you post the brand/model we can help find how (if) you can go this route.
