CVS is a system which allows many people to work on the same source at the same time. From time to time, when the developers consider it necessary/worthwhile, a snapshot of the source is blessed as an official release and made accessible, also in binary form, from AbiWord www pages. But you can also get a CVS snapshot any time you wish, provided you have the necessary skills (not a problem, this is nicely described on the www pages), bandwith (problem), and disk space (oh yeah, a problem again). Oh, and if you have a C++ compiler (trivial for Linux, costly for Windoze). So some kind souls offer CVS snapshots, as source tarballs and/or binaries, taken either at regular intervals (Jeremy Davis, Uwog) or when they see something new and interesting and at the same time they see that the whole package is stable (Nikolaj Brandt Jensen). I included a link to Nikolaj's version, cause this should give you the least trouble. Myself, I'm a regular downloader of Jeremy's builds and source packages. (When my computer's motherboard isn't fried and waiting for replacement, that is, *sigh*.) Marc/Uwog's rpm builds are for Linux. (BTW: thanks, guys! :-) ) You can find all the CVS-snapshot-download addresses in the developer section of Abi pages. Now, why isn't the lastest, 0.99.1 release listed on Abi pages? Because so far, this is only a source/*nix release. Why? I have no idea whatsoever. All I know is that the recent mail traffic on this list proves this to be a problem. Grab Nikolaj's version, this is even better than 0.99.1 cause it has some more bugs fixed. > By the way, what does means HTH?
