Are other built-in toolbars (i.e., the default menu bar,
formatting toolbar, etc) available? You might check the Startup options
(Tools >> Startup) to see if the "Allow Built-In Toolbars" option got
unchecked somehow.
(sorry, now that I look, it's probably the "Allow Default
Shortcut Menus" that would be causing this problem)
Have you determined that this is a problem in newly-created
db's in 2000? Have you tested the problem file on another PC? I
think a big part of solving this is determining whether it's file-specific or
PC-specific. Startup options are file-specific. If the same problem
occurs with any MDB on that PC, I think you need to look at the installation
(i.e., reinstall).
Hope
that helps,
Tom Oakes

creating a new database and importing the tables, forms, etc. from
the existing database, and the right-click now works. Thanks for the
advice in any case.
