I always do this via DAO out of force of habit. The
ADO recordset does have a bookmark property, which I think will
work the same way.
Change your recordset declaration to ADO and see if it
works.

Subject: [AccessDevelopers] I don't get ADO
I see how to work with ADO recordsets when referencing tables, sql and
creating new objects but what if I just want to move to a certain
record in form? I use Recordsetclone and Bookmark properties to find
and make records current with a DAO.Recordset object and I cannot find
a comparable way to use the ADO methods with forms. Every example and
reference I find seems also to go back and explicitly declare the
DAO.Recordset variable.
Is there no simple and proper way to do this without DAO?
