Thanks for responding Tom, I see your posts all the time and respect 
your input. 
I did try it with the ADO recordset. That's when I finally gave up, 
posted this thread and went back to my old habits. Of course that 
works fine, but then I am concerned about the references and future 
support, etc.
I read everything about bookmarks. VBA Help seems to suggest that 
the bookmark property can be used with ADO.recordset but I couldn't 
get the object variable to refer to a "Recordsetclone-Like" 
recordset in order to use it. 

Perhaps I haven't explored the proper Methods of the ADO.Recordset 
object.
I have only just scratched the surface of this ADO thing, so I 
presume there is something I am not getting that will become 
apparent once I get more familiar with it.
