Emergencies: More than Knowing 9-1-1
With severe weather being reported in the news, we are reminded how
important it is to be prepared for emergency situations. Most of us don't
realize how
unprepared we are for emergencies until one occurs. Don't let that happen to
you.

Hadley's course, "Safety in the Home," provides essential information to
protect you, your family and your home during unforeseen emergencies.

"The best way to deal with emergencies is to be prepared for them
beforehand," says instructor Ed Haines. "Never think an emergency won't
happen to you.
Advance preparation may save your life."

This tuition-free course can be completed at your own pace and in the
comfort of your home. ?Safety in the Home? is available in large print, in
braille,
on audiocassette and is online. The course is open to students in Hadley's
Adult Continuing Education and High School Programs.

Based on U.S. safety standards, the seven lessons explore how to prepare for
emergencies. The course begins by outlining preliminary steps in emergency
planning, then describes home safeguards and modifications. Fire
preparedness is included, as is general disaster planning. Disasters, such
as earthquakes
and tornadoes, are specifically mentioned. Weather emergencies involving
extreme heat and cold are also included. A resource list accompanies the
course.
Please note, this course does not provide instructions in first aid.

So why not enroll so you can protect yourself, your family and your home? To
