To put it in proper perspective. The program concerned here is one of many such weird programs. (I must acknowledge that My experience is limited to an unfortunate listening of an episode of Indian Idol).
I agree that just because someone is blind you shouldn't vote for him, you must look for the talent. However, the candidates are voted by the viewers in such programs for their looks and how much nonsense they can talk. (I am sorry for using such words to those who listen to such programs religiously) If that is the case, there is no harm voting for the blind person just because he is blind, (one of the community, according to some of us) Anyway, contestants are not supported for their talent for music. I have also heard that the producers manipulate the number of votes any candidate gets on the basis how much useful that candidate going to be in future for the sponsors. A winner is definitely going to be more popular and one who is popular is going to be a useful good brand ambassador. If this person has reached a particular level, it must be because of his talent and also perhaps because of a desirable personality, not much idea bout it.
