But according to the cerdular issue by the ministry, the validity of the card is 5 years from the date of issue of concession certificate. I have also seen simmiler cases in mumbai as like you.

Subject: Re: [AI] Query regarding railway smart card.

no no here you people have some confusion I received railway ID card
in june 2015 which was made on 22nd april 2015 & was signed by DRM
northern railway on 22nd april 2015, & the expiry date is on 22nd
april 2020 this means not the issuing of concession certificate by NFB
but from the date of issue of ID card by DRM office, after that I
have booked several time online & even on counter also without any
problem.

No, its clearly written in the instructions that, the validity of
this so called smart card will last until expiry date of the railway
concession. That's why its highly recommended to renew your railway
certificate before applying for this smart card.
But, the issue in the above case is out of my coherent logic, because
there was a circular from the ministry of railway that all railway
concession certificates issued before 15th of July 2015 will be deamed
cancelled, and one ought to renew his or her concession. So how did
they make smart card against that invalid railway concession?

Hi Rohit,
Thanks for clarifying the issue. If it is so, it isn't a good idea. In my
view the term of 5 years should commence from the date of issuance of the
smart card .

Hi!
The validity of railway card is from 5 years from the issue date of your

Subject: [AI] Query regarding railway smart card.

Hello
Has anyone from the list received his/her railway ID card? If yes, what
is
the expiry date of the card? Actually, a friend of mine has just
received
his card which is valid up to November 2017.
Is it not a joke? The concession certificate which we are using till now
is
valid for 5 years from the date of issuance. Anyone eligible for the
concession can get the certificate within no time. But the smart card
which
is being issued in 3 to 6 months is valid for 1 or two years.
