In the name of equality and accessibility, we cannot discount safety. Recently, I had been to St. Mary's island, it was difficult to change into different boats midsea. While returning, the boat fellow parked the boat some distance from the island and passengers had a tough time to reach the boat, fortunately, my family members guided me very well, also the boat people were very helpful

Subject: Re: [AI] Fwd: Expressing disappointment- Damodar rope way Gangtok restricts boarding of visually impaired tourist on their rope way Hi Another area of genuine concern is while getting on to a motor boat launch. It is not a problem when you have to board directly from the pier. The trouble is when you have to go through many boats to reach your boat. The height of the motor boats are not the same. Both the boats are moving because of the waves, there is no proper place to have a safe grip. This can be very risky at times. I faced this at Andamans and very recently at Calicut. Here we were on an overnight house boat cruise. I had difficulty while getting on. However, on the return the next day. He reached before other boats and as a result he could berth directly. Sometimes there is just a plank put from the shore on the boat. One should be very careful as there is no support on the sides at all. I don't find it intimidating, but it makes quite a feat to the folks watching by. Harish. -----Original Message----- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Mohammed Tausif Iqbal Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2018 11:53 AM To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: [AI] Fwd: Expressing disappointment- Damodar rope way Gangtok restricts boarding of visually impaired tourist on their rope way ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Mohammed Tausif Iqbal <tos...@gmail.com> Date: Wed, 25 Apr 2018 10:56:35 +0530 Subject: Expressing disappointment- Damodar rope way Gangtok restricts boarding of visually impaired tourist on their rope way To: accessindia <accessindia@accessindia.org.in> Dear group members Warm Greetings, I recently visited Gangtok for a veccation with my family. During the trip, we were taken for a ride on a rope way, "Damodar rope way". The manager ticket counter expressed his concern" our company doesn't permit to board person with disability on ropeway, but we allow all normal person including 10 month kid" this is the matter of "lack of sensitivity" or "inhumane"?
