Another scenario: You give a Rs500 note to to a cashier at a store in a busy
mall. They return Rs455/- in cash. Rs200+Rs100+2xRs50+2xRs20+Rs10+Rs5

I take out my phone switch on my app and then start examining the currency one
by one. The ambiance sound is so loud that I cannot hear what talk back or
voice over is saying. Person in the counter and the people behind start
becoming impatient.

I believe as Vasu said, I would use the app to arrange the currency in my purse
at home at the start of the day but while transacting the app might not
particularly useful in many day to day situations. Agreed, no substitute for
actual accessible currency. Further the app is of no use to people who do not
own a smart phone. That could be a huge number. I am not trying to discredit
the splendid efforts put in by Shilpi and her team. I am worried because the
Finance Ministry is working on an app and thinking that it would solve the
problem.

I can't imagine the scene. I shall take the note from my pocket or wallet to my
hand, then scan it with my mobile, listen to it and then pay with this note. It
reminds me of a very famous Bengali story of the sixties by Shibram Chakraborty.

A bus conductor is brought for trial for slapping a lady.

Judge: Why did you slap a lady passenger?

Conductor: When I went to the lady for ticket, she opened a handbag. She
fumbled inside it for some time and brought out a small pouch from it. She then
opened the pouch and brought out a purse. She then produced a paper pack from
it. She unfolded the paper and produced a 10 paise. But by then I had moved
forward to the front side of the bus, approaching other passengers for
ticketts. She wrapped the paisa inside the paper, placed it in the purse,
placed the purse in the pouch, and then put the pouch in the handbag and put
the zipper in place. Five minutes later, I asked her for ticket agaij. She
opened the handbag, brought out the pouch from the handbag, ...

Judge: If you don't cut short, I shall give you a slap.

Conductor: See, sir, I am only telling you what happened and you are losing
patience. Feel my situation when it happened to me.
