Braille on Fourth January 2021.
Dear All,
Warm greetings from JNU Visually Challenged Students Forum- Jawaharlal
Nehru University, New Delhi/110067.
As you all know, The JNU visually challenged Students forum is constantly
engaged in making JNU as the paragon of accessibility, inclusivity and
sensitivity towards the needs of students with disabilities. Carrying on
with the legacy, this year as well, The Forum feels privileged in extending
a cordial invitation for the celebration of Louis Braille Day on
04/01/2021, from 5 PM to 7 PM. In order to mark the Occasion, In the
evening gathering through Google Meet, we are organizing the Louis Braille
Memorial Lecture. The theme for this year’s Lecture is: “Disability Rights
Advocacy: Past Experiences and future Prospects”. This year’s memorial
lecture will be delivered by Advocate Sanchita Ain, which will be followed
by a short round of question and answer session.
Brief Profile of the Speaker:
As we all know, Sanchita Ain is an Advocate-on-Record in the Supreme Court
of India. With over nine years of experience in the field of law, she has
worked on leading cases like triple talaq and linking of PAN with Aadhaar.
She holds the prestigious LLM degree in International Human Rights Law with
distinction from the University of Essex and a PG Diploma degree in Women's
Studies. She has been arguing important cases relating to disability rights
in Supreme Court and Delhi High Court. She also advises various NGOs
working in the area of disability rights on a regular basis and has been
hosting or speaking at webinars on gender and disability issues. She is an
I Can Lead Fellow, India's first national leadership programme for women
with disabilities, and had also taken up the JNU disability reservation
case in the recent past.
