Will the Minister of *HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE *be pleased to state:



(a)    the total number of beds available in mental health facilities in
India, State-wise; and

(b)    the occupancy rate in these facilities?

(a) & (b): Health is a State Subject. Mental Health in-patient services are
provided at various secondary and tertiary level healthcare facilities,
including District Hospitals, State Mental Hospitals, Central Hospitals,
Private Sector Hospitals, etc. The data regarding availability of beds and
occupancy of beds is maintained by the Institutions/ Hospitals concerned,
at their own level. However, there are 03 (three) Mental Health
Institutions, namely, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro
Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional
Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Tezpur, Assam and Central Institute
of Psychiatry (CIP), Kanke, Ranchi under administrative control of the
Central Government. The details of total number of beds and occupancy rate
of such beds in these Institutions are as under:
