First, yes, even as we work with individual apps or litigate against them, we are taking steps to pursue the solution of digital accessibility at scale. The Ccpd has issued notices to 74 service providers at our behest all of whom have been asked to make their offerings accessible within three months and to submit a status report within six months. This includes banking and fin tech apps. Second, as for captchas,4 we have submitted a list of 25 odd government websites that have inaccessible captchas to the Ccpd office and to the secretary, DEPWD. They have assured us of action in this regard. Just day before yesterday, I had a chat with the legal consultant in the Ccpd office about next steps on this project. I am committed to taking it to its logical conclusion. Third, as for the WhatsApp group, it now has 266 members. It is aimed at being a platform for people to know about our work. If we open it up to people 24 seven, it will be flooded with messages. And it will be very difficult for us to go through people‘s feedback. Instead, we have left open the possibility of people sharing their views with us in four main ways. First, by writing an email to us on Mission Accessibility at gmail.com. Second, by messaging any of us privately on WhatsApp. We are very transparent about sharing our phone numbers. Even if it may sometimes causes some inconvenience. Third, we will keep the group open for certain designated time slots on weekends. We are figuring out the time currently. And forth, through threads like this one, we constantly get your feedback and try to improve our processes. However, please do understand that change of this kind does not happen overnight. And simply blaming us for the slow pace of progress may not always be right. Several variables are beyond our control. The kind of work that we are trying to do is at the cutting edge of accessibility in India and globally. Service providers have several limitations that they point to. Government officials have hundred other things to address and therefore one has to constantly follow up with them to achieve the slightest progress. And our court system is flooded with litigation, making it difficult to get a proper hearing. None of these are meant to be stated as excuses, but you must understand a broader context before accusing us of not doing enough.
