Dear All

We can help the committee by maybe organising workshops and give the committee a memorandum of points, issues with sufficient background material for them to consider.

Besides we can run a blog dedicated for this. On this the whole community would be participating. Presently there are a number of ways to put our point across provided we have the urge and the drive towards it. If we desire to bask in excuses then that is a different issue all together. There are good many reasons and avenues to sulk.

Harish.

Appologies for not being clear. I meant they have been working (not the
members appointed now but disability groups in general) in replacing the
law to harmonise with UNCRPD.

Hello Subramani
I could not understand a fragment:
"One thing I know for certain is that they are already considering it;"

Moreover, Suhas, please reveal the source of this insider news about
committee, for I do not find any such development mentioned on MSJ site
or any newspaper, hitherto.

I feel it is important for us to let the drafting team know what exactly
we require. One thing I know for certain is that they are already
considering it; our inputs would only make it more widespread and better
in terms of covering all necessary ideas/requirements without giving a
chance for an important thing or two to slip out. Kanchan, I know, has
been involved intimately with the process, why don't we put our ideas to
her and request her to take it to the drafting team?

Hi all,
I completely see eye to eye with Rajesh sir's views regarding the
formation of new committee to draft new Law for the disabled. If it's
possible, we must make sincere attempts to reach the Committee
members. We can make individual efforts but if it's possible we must
make united efforts for this very important cause.

Hi,

I second Rajesh sir's views.

Why wait for the draft to be made public and then put in efforts at
the 11th hour?

Let's try to reach the committee and it's members with views, demands,
suggestions etc. now itself. I don't know how Mr. Suhas Karnik got
this news, but if it is public to all, then take this to the media now
itself along with our recommendations. Let's write personal letters
to the persons concerned and sensitise them about the need of the
hour.

In a lighter note, we all know betting is there in IPL. It got to
Access India also!!! And most of the betting is done by the legal
fraternity!!!!
In a more serious note, our learned friends have an idea about the
time frames required for amendments and inceptions of laws and hence
are giving us an idea about the practicality. As a lay man, I thought
the new law would come into force in months. Their betting has made
me think more realistically. Thank you.
