I don't think that there is that much of difference in price only due to windows. there may be other difference in terms of hardware. even if the major components are same, there may be difference in LAN card, wifi, card reader, graphics device, camera, the RPM of HDD, speed of DVD drive etc. even there may be difference of equipment manufacturers. carefully check all these.

Hai!
Salman, I have a very good suggestion for you at this time.
In your first mail u wrote that there is a difference of 7,000 Rupees
between a model preloaded win 7 professional and with out win 7.
Thats fine either of these you perchase, but one thing came to my mind
that you are going to pay 7 thousand rupees for a window for which you
are going to have nontranspherable license, I mean to say that
preloaded windows can not be transphered to another system in future
in case you need to change the machine, one thing and you will have
only one version that 32 bit. Secondly if you perchase retale version
of windows 7 professional then you will have two benifits:
1. you will get two CD, one of 32 bit and another 64 bit.
2. This licence will be transpherable since you will having CD for the same.
The benifit of the retale version is that you can any time transpher
the licence to any machine in future.
The price of win 7 professional is 10,000 rupees and for windows 7
ultimate is 11,000.
Calculatively you have to pay 4 thousands rupees extra in comparison
to preloaded windows and you will get:
1. both verson of windows 7, viz. 32, and 64 bit in professional and
ultimate both.
2. You will be able to transpher the lisance any time.

In my view its not a wise idea to perchase laptop with preloaded
windows 7. Go for a dos machine and then take any decision.
Even I did not hear any one using H.P Probook working, but H.P claims
that their system are not prone to technical malfunctioning.
Lenovo thinkpad is known for its robust and rugged use, I can only
give u advice against that at this time untill I have any one using
probook.

Umesha sir as u discussed that u used for three years thinkpad of T
searies. as I know that T searies is more expensive and durable in
comparison to edge searies, what happened to your that t searies
thinkpad that it could run only for 3 years?
Even a consumer searies laptop may work easely for 3 or four years!
what is the benifit of using thinkpad in this situation.

I have checked that thinkpad and probook are of same price more or
less in same configuration. The model which u told that is Edge 420
DUQ is for 46 thousands, but comes with win 7, 64 bit, however there
are other models which are coming with 32 bit, like 2RQ, 2SQ, and BPQ,
with I5 processors. I think I will have to do my homework compairing
these all with probook.
I would like to request members if any one using probook searies of
H.P, please share their experiences.

dear Salman,
frankly I don't have experience of probook series nor I have seen any
person
working with it. I have just heard it from the HP customer care people. I don't think you can get the same configuration as in HP in thinkpads for
the
same rate. I am not sure. please cross check. hope fellow members in the
list give their experience on probooks.

Hi today I recieved a call from H.P as erlier I enquired about H.P
business searies laptop. They told that they have Probook business
searies notebooks. The configuration is here:
Core I5 second generation processor
4 GB Ram
500 GB harddisk
windows professional 7, 32 bit
13.3 inches screan size
2.0 kg waight

for 46,200 rupees.

Listers any one has such experience of probook laptops?

Umesha sir, what is your opinion, weather thinkpad or this probook?

Umesha sir, the laptop which I perchased last month is working fine
but I am not satisfied with 15.6 inch screen size as I need smaller
one, and another the keypad is not friendly, even there is no scroll
on, of, key. My brother is need of a laptop therefore I decided to
give this to him and to perchase another for my self.
As u told me that dell xp drivers are not available, I am afraid! but
the customer care told me that they are there!
However please suggest me with which should I go to find a durable,
rugged, small and light waight laptop, I am looking in between
thinkpad, dell vostro and H.P probook business models.

Hai Umesha sir, I need small one, as I have to travel a lot therefore
I need as lighter machine.
I don't know weather thinkpad is much stronger and robust in
performance but some body told me that vostro is as simeler as
thinkpad. There is thinkpad searies in lenovo called Edge 420 which is
below 50,000 rupees. if I will go with lenovo then I will take this
searies only. I have to enquire H.P also. But I need only light in
waight

Hi salman,
what happened to your new laptop? mine is working fine. within one
month
yours is having problems? you want smaller or bigger one?
regarding xp drivers for dell, it seems you have not seen my last
message
in
the previous thread on audio device problem. you won't get drivers
for
xp for dell laptops. for some of the thinkpads you can get xp
drivers.
but
you have to cross check for the particular model you choose. but
lenovo
also
recommends windows 7. so if any problem pops after you purchase as it
happened with audio in your present machine, you can clearly expect
lenovo
people asking you to change your OS to win 7. windows 7 is future,
windows
XP is present for some people like me. choice is yours. one more
thing,
thinkpads are costlier than dell vostro. you cannot get them below
50000
Rs.

Hi learned listers,
I perchased last month a lenovo Z570 searies laptop. However I am
not
satisfied with the over all performance and 15.6 inchis screen sise
of
the laptop. Now I intend to perchase another one, in this quest I am struck between lenovo thinkpad and Dell vostro searies, both series
are business model searies which is most durable in terms of rough
use, light waight and small sise. I am unable to make decision that
with which should I go?
If any of listers is having such experience or knowledge of relating
to this matter, please share.
One another thing I want to ask that those who are using dell with
xp,
I want to know weather drivers for xp are available on dell website?
And one very importent but final question that I have option to
perchase windows 7 professional version with 32 bit, how ever the
price difference between dos and win 7 machine is of 7 thousand,
friends should I go to win 7 now?
