Skype has been facing the issue for almost the last one week at my end. I installed instantbird to try and find an alternative. But it had the same issue at the beginning, but no misunderstanding instantbird is now working fine with my facebook contacts, and its running right now on my computer. I don't know how it happened, but since yesterday evening, my instantbird started showing the status of my facebook friends correctly.
