you are right. as I am working with students, I have students excellent in their performance but due to lack of opportunities or financial difficulties they can not reach to expected level. but if there was an announcement in this regard I would have surely encouraged some students to participate in this educational tour. ----- Original Message ----- From: "lovely grover" <[email protected]>

dear friends,

I am also very eager to know what did they learn there? one of my
friends went to Edinburgh University in that so called educational
tour and I was told there was not a single differently abled student,
by this fact, you can easily assume what did they do there.

idealy a seminar should be conducted in which it should be told to
everyone what did they do there and what did they learn there. it was
only a trip for enjoying on UGC's fund and so did there. if they would
have learn anything new, it would be preach by the University but
nothing happened.

it is very unfortunate that one the one hand, most of the disabled do
not have ediquate resources for studies and on the other hand,
University is expending money on these so called educational trips.

Leave aside, I'm eager to know what students have learnt there.
Please if anyone who visited can share about the facilities, Classroom
experience, availability of technology and so on?
So we can press policy makers to emulate here in India too,.

Delhi University’s disability group successfully completed their ten
days visit to International Education Excellence Programme held in the
United Kingdom.
The university had taken the first ever initiative of sending a group
of 30 students to University of Edinburgh and the Kings College,
London. 22 out of 30 students were with disability, two were student
volunteers and the rest were officials from various colleges and
departments.
The group of 30 was divided into two batches of 15 each and were
sent to University of Edinburgh and the Kings College London for 10
days, starting from 29 June to 9 July. During the tour, the special
students learnt about the state of the technologies, facilities,
health, hygiene, religion, heritage and art. The Indian students also
interacted with the students union and Disability Unit Head, Assistive
Advisory Service of Kings College, London. Earlier, on the eve of
world disability day in December 2012, DU vice-chancellor mentioned
about the plan to send students with disability from various colleges
abroad, so they will be able to "explore and discover their potential
with other international students abroad."
"The prime motive was to understand the kinds of treatment, assistive
technology and other facilities provided in learning and channelising
the potential for competing and attaining the desired goals equally
with other normal students," said an official of the Universi
