Hi
You can stop payment when you get the realisation one of the leaf is missing.
In that case one will have to check everyday. This may not be wholly practical
although logical.

Harish.

It was precisely this argument which has stalled its adoption so vehemently...
There is something called stop payment instruction to counter such
eventuality....

Hi
There is also a clear cut risk adopting this strategy. You will have to guard
the cheque zealously. If any leaf from the cheque book is lost or stolen, it
can be disastrous.

No, something can surely be done.
If CCPD judgment of 2005, in pincha's case is implemented, we can get our
chequebooks duly attested on each leaf by the bank official at the time of
issue itself by signing or thumb impression on individual cheques.
So, then we can present these attested cheques without fear of being dishonored.
Unfortunately we have outrightly rejected this usable judgment as being unsafe
and derogatory to our dignity in the hope of biometric verification coming soon.
I remember one honorable legal professional on this very group had assured me
that biometrics would come within six months, maybe six years ago!!!

Hi
I do understand this problem. The problem has accentuated after core banking is
deployed. Earlier, the rapport which used to be with the bank officials has now
withered away. We are talking to an anonymous person at the bank's bank's
backend system personnel. Hence, they would by no means be aware of the
varience in our signature.

Until and unless we get biometric signature verification in place, there is
pretty little that can be done.
The only suggestion that can be made is to use electronic fund transfer etc.
Agreed, it cannot be done at all instances.
