My question about this is, are there any RFCs or FAQs
that document this? I've had trouble finding information about
mail attachments other than a little about MIME.
A similar problem is documented in "Linux Network Administrator's Guide",
by Olaf Kirch, O'Reilly & Associates, Jan. 1995 edition, page 192,
Chapter 18, "Electronic Mail", "What Is a Mail Message?".
In this reference, a problem with lines starting with 'From '
can be confused with the first line in a mail header and assumed to be the
start of a new message, and it is recommended that these be
escaped with a preceeding '>'.
I've encountered a similar problem with lines having only a '.'.

It seems to me that the mailing programs should escape these obvious
trouble makers when it queues the outgoing files for mailing.
The apparent problem is that Internet standards, BBS standards, etc.
evolved seperately and nobody wants to pay attention to (or can find) defacto
standards that evolved parallel to those they tout as solving all
problems.

The usual method is to right click the link in a browser and select "Copy
Link Location". The wording varies with the browser. You can also type it
direct into the "Manual Entry" box under the "General" tab

Hi all;

Many programs would let you do what you need. If you run a search for
"off-line browsing" any search engine would give you several options.
Anyway, the program I - happily - use to bring entire web sites on my hard
disk is OfflineExplorer, born as WebDownloader from the quick mind of a
young Russian programmer, Oleg Chernavin (
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Vista/2865/ and also
http://www.saransk.sitek.net/pages/arny/ ).

After being offered as freeware in a development stage, the program has
been sold to an American company and can be now
downloaded/tested/registered from http://www.metaproducts.com/

I recently registered my copy (about US$30) and I would definitely
recommend it for its very useful downloading options.

Bye

Here are the beginning RFCs. Each will lead you to others that are more
up-to-date, but you should start at the beginning.

RFC0822 -- Standard for the format of ARPA Internet text messages.
D. Crocker. Aug-13-1982.
(Obsoletes RFC0733)
(Updated by RFC1123, RFC1138, RFC1148, RFC1327, RFC2156)

RFC1341 -- MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions): Mechanisms for
Specifying and Describing the Format of Internet Message Bodies.
N. Borenstein, N. Freed. June 1992.
(Obsoleted by RFC1521)

RFC850 -- Standard for interchange of USENET messages.
M.R. Horton. Jun-01-1983.
(Obsoleted by RFC1036)

Normally you send the message to the list owner to change an address,
not the list members.

Actually, what you should do is to unscubscibe using the old address
first and then re-subscribe with the new address. However, in your case
I unsubscribed "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and subscribed "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". You
should be receiving confirmations...

Old but still OK: Patrick Crispen's Roadmap96 ( most addresses are
invalid)
http://netsquirrel.com/roadmap96/syllabus.html

And my old friend Bob Behren's MJRB course. A 6-week course conducted
by E-mail.
Offered in February, May, August and November

There is no list of "all" search engines because there are too many of
them. For a fairly comprehensive list, see Beaucoup
http://www.beaucoup.com/

Beaucoup is updated and as of July 1998, has more than 1,200 listings
of engines, directories and indices across the world to help you find
whatever you're looking for!
The big page with some 800+ links: http://www.beaucoup.com/engbig.html

Virginia:

You sent your problem to the list as an attachment.

Attachments cause listserv program and/or mailing programs to do
strange things - such as truncating digests - and some mail clients
can not handle attachments. For this reason list netiquette asks
that postings be in plain text (no html) and in the body of the
message - NOT as an attachment. This applies to all lists, not
just this one.

THe ACCMAIL digest of the 23rd (the date of your message) contained
an attachment on the 3rd message. Was this digest truncated??
If so, the only way to solve the problem is to educate list contributors.

Regards

Mary

Subject: URGENT: problems w/ wireworm.com forwarding service because of spam

Hi you all,

problems you might encounter with the wireworm.com forwarding service
are due to the fact that we are being spammed at the moment. The spammer
is known to us and we will consider taking legal steps against him. Anyway,
we might have to stop the forwarding service in the near future because
we can not stand further spam attacks and might get problems with our
provider. So please inform your contacts of your "real" address if you
use our forwarding service, as we might have to stop it within hours if
such spam attacks as yesterday happen again. If you can do anything against
spam, please act, as it costs our money and your free services (see the fate
of several valuable web-by-email servers)!

Thank you for your understanding. If you need more comments on the situation,
I'm available at [EMAIL PROTECTED], in urgent cases you can also contact me by
