maybe it's a video resume issue, i'm not sure. anyway, i took a look at
Documentation/power/video.txt.
so, i've made a little step further:
i changed something: i found a hint of a guy on the ubuntuforums, who has the
same
thinkpad like me(http://www.ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-140178.html):

i added the following kernel options to grub:
noapic nolapic acpi_sleep=s3_bios pci=usepirqmask pci=noacpi pnpacpi=off

but when i entered hibernate in the video and in the plain text mode it wasn't
possible
to resume.

so i decided to try only acpi_sleep=s3_bios in the text mode. it really worked
for the
first time ever. i could come back to the console, but "startx" returned with a
error.
it had problems loading some x-fonts.
only the command "X" succeeded and showed me the mouse-pointer and i could also
move the
pointer.

but in the vga-mode i had no luck.
