YES, the attachment to comment #11 is too brutal ;-)

I think the best solution would be to identify some
broken machines and to provide better trip points for
them if needed. Polling must be forced for some of
them, active cooling must be ignored for some. Never
disable passive cooling, never disable critical trip
point handling.

Wouldn´t it be a good idea to test cooling devices
in the init code and to make some sanity checks for
trip points?
