It has always happened, but I also have ubuntu (the latest desktop edition) installed where it doesn't happen, at least I think so. Initially I thought it was related to my configuration of the kernel, then I thought it was because I forgot to start the hald. After I was starting the hald, I believed that the problem was gone, but after a several hours of uptime it happened again, and I noticed this error on the CPU reported by dmesg: "APIC error on CPU1: 00(40)" which still happens. > > why are you booting with acpi_osi=Linux? > Because it was suggested by the previous dmesg.
