Hi Nico, after some research somebody on linuxquestions has found this problem is actually due to the Intel HDA sound driver. I've confirmed the workaround on two different Shuttle XPC models, SB81P and SB95P. Simply add "rmmod snd_hda_intel" to the end of /etc/default/halt.
